HOME SOLAR COGENERATION MARKETS COMPANY
Cogeneration (also combined heat and power, or “CHP”) is the sequential or simultaneous generation of multiple forms of useful energy (usually mechanical and thermal) in a single, integrated system.

Mechanical energy is used to drive a generator to produce electricity.

Thermal energy is used in direct process applications or indirectly to produce steam, hot water, hot air for drying, or chilled water for process cooling.

Haywood-owned cogeneration systems use natural gas fired engines or turbines to drive a generator which produces electricity. The heat given off by the engine and its exhaust is simultaneously captured for use.

Using the heat by-product of electricity generation, Haywood-owned cogeneration systems capture up to 75% of the energy in the fuel they use.

Because the efficiency of cogeneration systems is substantially greater than the efficiency of conventional power plants, Haywood-owned cogeneration systems afford each Customer a significantly reduced carbon footprint.
